Is it possible for you to design my site using my present domain name?As it stands now all Domain Names are transferable or re-direct able. We will cover transferring a Domain Name first.
Transferring:
To authorize the transfer you need to be the Registrant of the Domain. You can find this out normally by clicking on the link here (www.internic.net/whois.html) and typing in your Domain Name. In the case of your Domain though, it has been privatized, meaning no information will be provided. This would be a good time to get out the records when your Domain Name was purchased. The person purchasing your Domain Name should have provided you with the following information:
Domain Name contact information for the:
a) Registrant
Name: ___________________________
Phone:___________________________
Email ___________________________
b) Billing Contact
Name: ___________________________
Phone:___________________________
Email ___________________________
c) Technical Contact
Name: ___________________________
Phone:___________________________
Email ___________________________
d) Administrative Contact
Name: ___________________________
Phone:___________________________
Email ___________________________
e) Registrant Authority, i.e. DirectNic, Network Solutions...
Name/URL: __________________________
User: ID: __________________________
Password: __________________________
As long as your name and email address appear in the “Registrant” information then you have complete control of your Domain Name. If for some reason your name is not indicated as the “Registrant”, but are the “Billing Contact”, having no other legal reason keeping you from managing your Domain and you know the Registrant Authority, User Id and Password; you can correct the identity information by logging in and changing the required information for the “Registrant” . This whole exercise is necessary when it comes to the transfer request. Because an email is sent to the “Registrant” in which authorization for the transfer is either granted or denied. Without the email authorization no transfer will take place.
Re-Directing:
If all of this can not be accomplished, but you can change the DNS (Domain Name Server) information within the account at your Registrant Authority; here is that information, ns0.lhmg.net and ns0.lhmg.net.
Advantage to the transfer: Most hosting companies like to maintain easy access to the Registrant information and the ability to make changes if required for all Domains under their control and for their clients. In doing so, fewer maintenance and upkeep problems occur and less time is involved in accomplishing the tasks.. Keeping your Domain at the current Registrant Authority is more expensive (long term), i.e. $8.25 vs $34.00 a year. Domain Names normally come up for renewal once a year when prompted by the Registrant Authority. Depending on when and how it is handled the amount of time given may not be enough to accomplish the transfer and you might incur the more expensive charge again.
Also, normally when you transfer your Domain Name you increase the amount of time of ownership by 12 months. So if you currently have 10 months left of ownership you would (after transfer) have 22 months of ownership.
Disadvantage: You are paying $8.25 when you don’t have to. Kit Creighton, Mar.07,05 13:23
